The Decision That Changes Things

So too, faith, if it does not have works [to back it up], is by itself dead [inoperative and ineffective]. (James 2:17 AMP)
There comes a point when I have to acknowledge that some of the circumstances I keep praying about also require something from me. Not because God is unwilling to intervene, but because I have a responsibility to participate in the life He has given me.
I can spend so much time hoping things will improve, waiting for someone to recognize what I need, or believing the right opportunity will eventually come along. Meanwhile, I may be overlooking the decisions within my control that could begin changing my circumstances today.
One thing I have learned is that being dissatisfied with where I am doesn’t automatically mean I am prepared to do what is necessary to move forward. Sometimes, I become so accustomed to managing what isn’t working that I stop considering what it would take to change it.
And that’s where I have to challenge myself.
What am I continuing to tolerate that I have the ability to address? What conversations am I avoiding? What habits am I protecting even though they are working against the future I say I want?
Faith doesn’t excuse me from responsibility. It gives me the courage to exercise it.
I also recognize that not everything is within my control. Some situations require patience, resources, support, and God’s timing. But I cannot allow what I cannot control to become an excuse for neglecting what I can.
Choosing to take responsibility for my well-being, growth, and future isn’t selfish. It is stewardship. God has entrusted me with a life that deserves more than my constant frustration with circumstances I am unwilling to confront.
Perhaps the breakthrough I have been anticipating begins with a decision I have been postponing.
Today, I am reminding myself that I don’t have to change everything at once. But I do have to be willing to do something different.
An Empowered You Begins With an Intentional Decision.
“I cannot keep asking God to change my circumstances while refusing to examine the choices that keep me connected to them. My faith must be accompanied by my willingness to act.”

What have I been tolerating that needs my attention?
Where am I waiting instead of taking action?
What one decision will I make today to move forward?
