Don't Just Find It. Pursue It.

Never lagging behind in diligence; aglow in the Spirit, enthusiastically serving the Lord. (Romans 12:11 AMP)

I believe there is something deeply fulfilling about discovering what makes you come alive. I’m not talking about what you’re good at, what pays the bills, or even what others recognize you for. I’m talking about that thing that captures your attention, stirs your creativity, and gives you a sense of fulfillment that goes beyond recognition or reward.

Sometimes we become so consumed with responsibilities, expectations, and routines that we forget to explore what genuinely excites us. We learn how to function, meet deadlines, and take care of everybody else’s needs, but somewhere along the way, we stop asking ourselves what we enjoy.

I’ve learned that being good at something doesn’t necessarily mean I’m passionate about it. And just because something has occupied years of my life doesn’t mean it has to define the years ahead.

Passion and purpose are connected, but they aren’t interchangeable. Passion can awaken my interest, while purpose gives direction to how I use what God has placed within me. Everything I enjoy may not be my assignment, but those interests may reveal gifts and abilities I haven’t fully explored.

I also recognize that purpose isn’t always discovered in some extraordinary moment. Sometimes it becomes clearer through curiosity, trying something unfamiliar, paying attention to what moves us, and being willing to grow beyond what we’ve always known.

Here’s what I don’t want to do: become so comfortable doing what’s necessary that I never make room for what’s meaningful.

God has given us different gifts, interests, and abilities. I believe we honor Him when we’re intentional about developing them and discovering how they can contribute to something beyond ourselves.

So, what have you been putting off exploring? What would you pursue if you stopped convincing yourself that it’s too late, too difficult, or simply not practical?

You don’t have to have every detail figured out. Give yourself permission to discover what excites you, develop what God has entrusted to you, and pursue the possibilities.

Your life should include more than what you have to do. Make room for what you were created to do.

“Don’t become so consumed with making a living that you forget to explore what makes you come alive. Your responsibilities deserve your attention, but your purpose deserves your pursuit.”
